Most book vendors in Siem Reap focus on
Cambodia and Southeast Asia related books, Angkor temple guides, and
travel books. There are several book outlets including Monument Books,
Blue Apsara, D’s
Books and the Siem Reap Book Center, all near the Old Market.
Blue Apsara
sells and trades secondhand books (English, French, German and other
languages,) as well as DVDs. Carnets d’Asie on Sivatha Blvd. and
Paris Sete on ‘Pub Street’ both have selections of
French-language books, both new and used. D’s Books and several
roving book carts prowl the Old Market area, particularly ‘Pub Street,’
offering a good selection of the most popular Cambodia related titles.
Book stalls on the riverside of the Old Market sell temple guides and
Cambodia-related books, as do small vendors near the temples.
Newspapers and Magazines
The Cambodia Daily (daily) and the Phnom Penh Post (twice
monthly) are the local English language newspapers, and Cambodge Soir
(daily) is the local French language newspaper. Local and
international papers including the Bangkok Post, The Nation and
The Herald Tribune are available at Angkor Market. Today’s
international papers are usually available by 11:00AM. The Bayon
Pearnik can be found at guesthouses and restaurants.
